By day, residents can: take advantage of the Château Vanier's large indoor Pool and Exercise Room (Gym); Riverain Park which is located just down McArthur Avenue next to the Rideau River; enjoy shopping in Beechwood Village; attend summer festivals in Strathcona Park; or jog or cycle down the long network of city bike/walk paths next to Ottawa's rivers and canals.


By night, residents can: take part in the Château Vanier Social Committee's weekly and monthly activities; dine at local restaurants (see list below); attend a show (live theatre, ballet or a music concert) such as those offered at the National Arts Centre; or take an evening stroll along the Capital Pathway.


McArthur Bowling and Good Life Fitness for Women are also located right across the street from the condominium complex and the Rideau Tennis Club is only a few blocks away on North River Road.


Residents can play games of chance at Friends' Bingo located about one city block away along Montreal Road.  Alternatively, residents can take a shuttle bus to either the Lake Lemay Casino in Hull or the Rideau Carleton Raceway and Gambling Complex located along Albion Road in Ottawa.


From the Château Vanier, you have quick and easy access to all of Ottawa’s foremost shopping venues.


Grocery shopping is particularly convenient as there is a Loblaws open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except for statutory holidays) located right across the Vanier Parkway from the condominium complex. As an alternative, residents are also within walking distance (approx. 3/4 of a kilometre or 750 m) from a Fresh Co. when heading East on McArthur Avenue.



The Beechwood Village and Montreal Road shopping areas with their many shops and boutiques offers residents a unique shopping experience and is located within walking distance at less than 2 km away from the complex.  There are many gas bars (Esso, Petro-Canada, Ultramar, Pioneer, XTR, etc.) and garages such as Good Year Tire located along McArthur Ave., Montreal Road and Donald Street to help residents to better service their vehicles.  Best Buy Canada, Canadian Tire, U-Haul and Dymon Self-Storage are all located on Conventry Road when heading South on the Vanier Parkway.


A 8-10 minute drive or by riding OCTranspo bus route number 14 (Carlington) heading West brings you to the Byward Market and the Rideau Centre.


A 3 km drive southeast or by riding the number 14 OCTranspo bus heading East brings you to the St-Laurent Shopping Centre.

A short drive or bus ride to the Byward Market offers a number of award winning restaurants. 


Located at the corner of McArthur Avenue and Vanier Parkway, the Château Vanier condominium complex is minutes away from every major destination including major shopping areas, the By-ward Market, downtown Ottawa and Parliament Hill.  The convenient location provides quick access to St-Laurent Boulevard, Vanier Parkway and the Queensway (Highway 417 East or West).



OC Transpo, Ottawa's regional public transit service provider, offers quick bus services from your door∼downtown.


Route #14 which has East and West bus stops located at the corner of the condominium complex along McArthur avenue brings you either directly to the Rideau Centre/Downtown Ottawa (EAST: 14 Carlington) or towards the St-Laurent Shopping Centre (WEST: 14 St-Laurent).


Bus Routes # 9 and 12 pass along the Vanier Parkway.


Walk North on the Vanier Parkway to Montreal Road for OC Transpo bus Routes #2 and #15 or West on McArthur Avenue to North River Road for OC Transpo bus Route #18.
